Hi! My name is Zennyo Ryuo which is a rain-god dragon in Japanese mythology.
I was found as a stray and assumed to be a desert iguana so needless to say I was in terrible shape. Luckily my finder took me to the shelter where they started to help me get well medically and then I was transferred to rescue to finish my recovery. I am now ready to find my forever home!
Because most of us are wild caught and sold on the cheap, people don't understand that we are not a beginner pet. We are already under a lot of stress and many of us don't make it past 2 years old due to poor housing and care. I'm really excited for the outlook of my life because the rescue will make sure that my new family knows everything they need to so I can have a long and happy life, which can be 10 to 15 years!
Unlike iguanas that look like me, I am very friendly and easy to handle. I love to eat all the bugs I can possibly get, and I can eat quite a lot, too! Fish are a great food for me too.
I am a climber, and a swimmer, I need 80% humidity, and I don't understand glass. My confusion can cause me to rub my face along the glass until I cause permanent damage to my nose and I can injure my jaw. You will need to provide me with a custom-built enclosure that is about 6 feet tall, 3 to 4 feet deep, and 4 to 6 feet long. The larger my enclosure, the less likely I am to hurt my face. Don't worry, the rescue will provide you with all of the information that you will need to prepare for my arrival :)
Almost all green water dragons appear female until they attain 14 to 16 inches in length, at which time males begin to develop larger heads, jowls, and a higher nuchal crest. The femoral pores of adult males are slightly larger than that of females too. When dragons are mature and able to breed, they are generally about 2 years old and 2 feet long. I am most likely female but we are still waiting to be sure.
I am a lovely dragon and if treated right I can be happy and healthy and bring joy to your heart and brighten your day!
